Cupcake Party

Kellen loves the computer. He can get on it and play computer games and even print kid recipes from his favorite sites (playhousedisney.com, nickjr.com, pbskids.org). He also looks at the party ideas they have and is CONSTANTLY asking for parties.

So, I finally gave in, and converted his "muffin party" idea into a cupcake party for his Phelps cousins.

So Kellen made invitations on the art program on one of the sites, and 7 little cousins were invited over for lunch and decorating cupcakes.

I made 48 cupcakes and 6 cousins made it (only one girl). Luckily the weather was nice on Wednesday, so the kids played and ate outside.

Then they came in to decorate cupcakes. Each kid got enough cupcakes for his/her family. They got to take them home and share them. They all had a lot of fun and played together nicely.

Bridger's creation - can you even SEE the cupcake?

My own creation! This is my kind of party! I loved being able to get out all of my sprinkles!

And Kellen was asking for another party before the day was over...

Memorial Day Weekend

We went up to beautiful Alpine for Memorial Day Weekend. We left about 6pm Friday evening. We arrived about 10:45 pm and we were the first ones there. We did have to deal with some vomit in Show Low (Kellen gets carsick), but other than that the kids were pretty good and we had a good trip up.

Since we were the first ones there, we had to open up the trailer and try to get water and electricity and all of that on. We ended up getting the water on but no hot water and no heater. The 5 of us slept in the trailer and it was extremely cold with no heater. But we all survived. The next day the local handyman came to fix the heater and the pipe issue. So we had the two bathrooms with hot water and the heater for the night. All of Jared's brothers and families came, so it was really fun. The BEST part was: it was cold and rainy the entire weekend. I savored every moment of it!

What we did: We went hiking on Escudilla Mountain, with a great view at the "top" and then it started hailing! But it was so much fun.

We kayaked at Luna Lake (ok, for possibly 5 minutes or so I was not savoring the cold and rain)

After that we went to the newly reopened Lollipop Shoppe and Alpine Grill. Got lots of candy and ate lunch. The soup and sliders were good, even if they did take ages to serve to us.

Monday night we had a bonfire with hot dogs and s'mores.
Tuesday, we..........uhm....did something but I can't recall what. I know we went to the Bear Wallow Cafe for dinner and then decided to drive to Luna to see if there was more major shopping there (no, population: 199, state: New Mexico). So, we visited New Mexico! On the way back we saw 7 deer. Just standing by the side of the road watching us. Bridger insisted they were horses though.

We did take a walk to the pond, pet Lady (the horse), and throw rocks in the pond.

Oh we also went to the tackle shop/gas station and bought fishing rods and some live worms to try our hand at fishing at Husley Lake. It's a small lake but was recently stocked, so people were having great luck. We didn't quite get the hang of casting the line so we didn't catch anything before it started raining. After we ate our lunch in the car, we decided to go back to the trailer for hot chocolate and a movie. I think the boys still enjoyed their first fishing trip though.

This Conversation Made My Mother's Day

Jared laying on the bed.

Jared: Hey Bridger, can I get some cuddles?
Bridger: I don't have any money.
Jared: That's ok, it doesn't cost to get cuddles from your dada.
Bridger: Do YOU have any money?
Jared: I have a little bit...
(pause...Bridger stares at Jared)
Jared: Oh, do I have to pay you for cuddles?
Bridger: Yeahhhh
Jared: oh, ok, I will pay you.
Bridger: OK. (He cuddles with Jared.)
Me: Can I get free cuddles since it's Mother's Day?
Bridger: Yeahhhhh
(Cuddles with me very briefly and moves back to cuddling with Jared)
Jared: Back to the daily grind. Gotta earn that living.

I was dying laughing. My little con artist charging for cuddles! And it's worth every penny!

My Mother's Day was great though! I was treated like the queen of the castle and we had a great weekend with both of our wonderful mothers.

My Birthday

Yesterday was my birthday and I had a GREAT day! I slept in (perks of having Jared work from home), got up and we took the kids over to my sister-in-law, Merilana's house to play with cousins while we went out to lunch. We went to Culver's Hamburgers. Turns out it was a fast food type of joint, but it was really good.
http://www.culvers.com/
It's on Country Club and Baseline. We both had hamburgers and shared onion rings and cheese curds. He had a root beer float and I had a mint shake. Everything was really good.
Then, we went back to my in-laws house so Jared could work while I shopped...but I ended up taking a nap in the guest house. It was glorious! Then, we went to pick up the kids - here's a picture of our kids with their Kennedy cousins (Kincade hadn't had a nap and it was already his bedtime):

Here's how Kincade ended up on the ride home:

When we got home we realized that neither of us had our house keys and the garage door opener didn't work (long story...) so we were locked out. The kids and I went to my parents while Jared tried to sort it out. He decided to call a locksmith and 1 hour and $140 later we were back in our home sweet home. So, it was way past dinner time, and we hadn't had cake and ice cream yet, so the kids helped decorate my cake:

As you can see by the picture, by this time, Kincade had woken back up. So, he had some ice cream:

OH, and by the way, all of these pictures/video were taken with my new extra small camera. It's so fun! Thanks hon! It was a great birthday! Thanks to everyone who called or emailed me to wish me a happy birthday.

No More Monkeys Jumping on the Bed

Kincade got the pleasure of having his first dentist visit today. Normally, we probably would have waited just a bit longer, but unfortunately "Momma called the doctor and the doctor said..." take him to the dentist. Yes, our little monkey fell off the bed (although he wasn't jumping, just sitting on the edge).

He fell off the side of the bed yesterday and hit his mouth. His two top right front teeth were banged backward in the scurfuffle and bled pretty badly. His lip had a small blood blister, but most of the blood was coming from his gums. The poor kid handled it all really well. As soon as we got the bleeding to stop, he calmed down and just cuddled with us. Unfortunately, any small bump (by his hands or tongue, or possibly by a head-butting 2-year old), reopened the wound. But we put him down to bed a short time later and he seemed fine.

When he woke up today his lip was swollen beyond expecations. He looked so funny! I tried to get a picture, but the 2-dimensions don't do it justice. So, since the teeth were knocked a bit out of place, we figured we should take him in to the dentist. The dentist took x-rays and said it looks fine for now (other than the bruising), but to bring him for another x-ray in 3 weeks and to basically watch for abscesses until his permanent teeth come in. I took my camera to the dentist, but I forgot the memory card, so no pictures. He was SOOO good at the dentist. Just sat in my lap and barely even fussed.

Here are some pictures of his lips/teeth after the dentist. The dark spots are the bruising - I'm not sure I've ever seen such bruising inside of a mouth before. And he won't let me wipe his nose because of the injury, so I apologize in advance for the grossness factor.
