For the second year in a row, Kincade's birthday fell on New Year's Eve so the whole world celebrated with us!
Grandma Phillips came over in the afternoon and gave him his presents (a xylophone and tool-shaped soap). Every time she leaves, the kids think they get to go with her, so she loads them into her car, drives them around the block, then drops them back off at home and they're satisfied!
Then we ran out for some crazy errands. The stores were so busy. We got cupcakes for Kincade's birthday at Sam's Club and picked up his presents there too. Then home to make spinach artichoke dip, gather pajamas, and everything else we would need. The back of our van was completely full of stuff.
At the Phelps we ate lots of yummy food - appetizers and treats. Melody made Hooters wings, we had black-eyed pea and avocado salsa for good luck, yummy lemon cookies, breadsticks, bean dip, homemade pizza with spelt crust (good!), and Wendy made Italian sodas. I was SO stuffed! The girls hung out in the kitchen all night and the guys hung out on the couches.
Then they broke the gingerbread houses. Each house has a hammer-like item (but safer) and each kid gets a turn to break it. When all of the kids are done, they attack the candy like rabid animals and fill their bags.
Then we celebrated Kincade's birthday with presents and cupcakes.
Then we played games, cleaned the kitchen and hung out until it was time to ring in the New Year!
And Kincade gave me a birthday present back by staying a baby for one more day and falling asleep in my arms. It's been a LOOOONG time since I've had a baby do that.

It sure was a crazy night, but I wouldn't have it any other way (I think...) Good pics, except the one of Me and Matt on the couch. :)
