No More Monkeys Jumping on the Bed

Kincade got the pleasure of having his first dentist visit today. Normally, we probably would have waited just a bit longer, but unfortunately "Momma called the doctor and the doctor said..." take him to the dentist. Yes, our little monkey fell off the bed (although he wasn't jumping, just sitting on the edge).

He fell off the side of the bed yesterday and hit his mouth. His two top right front teeth were banged backward in the scurfuffle and bled pretty badly. His lip had a small blood blister, but most of the blood was coming from his gums. The poor kid handled it all really well. As soon as we got the bleeding to stop, he calmed down and just cuddled with us. Unfortunately, any small bump (by his hands or tongue, or possibly by a head-butting 2-year old), reopened the wound. But we put him down to bed a short time later and he seemed fine.

When he woke up today his lip was swollen beyond expecations. He looked so funny! I tried to get a picture, but the 2-dimensions don't do it justice. So, since the teeth were knocked a bit out of place, we figured we should take him in to the dentist. The dentist took x-rays and said it looks fine for now (other than the bruising), but to bring him for another x-ray in 3 weeks and to basically watch for abscesses until his permanent teeth come in. I took my camera to the dentist, but I forgot the memory card, so no pictures. He was SOOO good at the dentist. Just sat in my lap and barely even fussed.

Here are some pictures of his lips/teeth after the dentist. The dark spots are the bruising - I'm not sure I've ever seen such bruising inside of a mouth before. And he won't let me wipe his nose because of the injury, so I apologize in advance for the grossness factor.

Kincade's First Haircut

Kincade FINALLY had his first haircut! Someone actually referred to him as "she" the other day, and I couldn't really blame them, so I guess it was time. So, I asked my mom and she came over to do the honors.

He looks like such a big/little boy now. Not my baby anymore. Now, if he would just start walking...

MERRY CHRISTMAS!

TO ME! Jared got me tickets to see Les Miserables for Christmas. But the show wasn't until last night. So, he took me out for a night on the town. After quite a few obstacles for dinner, we finally ended up at Red Lobster. Everything was really yummy. But we were running behind on time, so Jared had to take his steak a little underdone (and by a little, I mean A LOT). He was a good sport about eating something that appeared to still have a beating heart.
And, then, on to Phoenix Theatre for the show. It was an amazing production. It is absolutely my favorite musical/play/show. The story is beautiful and the songs are amazingly emotional/touching. We were impressed with the whole production. I believe we both teared up a bit too (or, as Jared calls it, cried like little girls).
My wonderful mother-in-law watched the boys while we went out and she kept them ALL NIGHT! I can't say enough "thank yous" to her for that. She said they were great and that it was fun, but I honestly have my doubts. I mean, I know my boys.

Great News!

Today I was picking up the millions of books that my monster pulled off the bookshelves and discovered a lost treasure - my wedding band. Kellen had knocked my engagement ring and wedding band off the bookshelves months ago and I never found the band. I thought it was gone forever.

One of those thing I never though I would say: “Thank goodness my child made this huge mess.”

Here’s a picture even though it’s dirty! I’m just so happy to have it back.

Valentine's Party

We had our annual Valentine’s Day Party with the Phelps’ on Sunday evening (it was a very reverent party, don’t worry :). The cousins passed out valentines to each other, Grammy gave each of the kids donuts, and Stan entertained the kids with songs downstairs.

A picture of most of the grandkids:
It’s missing Gene and Braden (Ohio), Bridger (too sleepy to get in), Ethan, and Cassie

(I love this picture of Kincade because it shows his quirky personality and also shows his hair that everyone is always commenting on!)
